Domestic storage potatoes continued to dominate the market, only accompanied by French Agata. Their quality remained convincing, so the marketing was generally quite calm. The quotations usually remained constant. Meanwhile, Italian and Cypriot early potatoes were available. However, these were relatively expensive, so they generated little attention according to BLE.
Lower Saxony:
After temperatures became milder last week and the wave of protests somewhat subsided, more potatoes were available on the market.
North Rhine-Westphalia:
The potato sales in the retail sector have settled at a typical January level. Premium tableware is available to meet demand. The industrial market is dynamic. The REKA quotation has been raised again across all varieties - now at €3.00/100 kg.
Rhineland-Palatinate:
The producer prices can increase significantly in the northern reporting area. However, the payout prices vary greatly depending on quality and sorting effort. Consumer demand is good for January and stronger than last year. Despite the cold and difficult logistics, the demand in retail could be met. Direct marketers are also satisfied with the sales. Stable prices are still expected.
Schleswig-Holstein:
In the potato trade, the recently increased price base has prevailed. The market is faced with barely sufficient volumes. The prices are about €10/dt above last year. Sortings remain high and are partly at 25 percent. French quality goods are currently being offered a little more again. The prices here are significantly above the local level and have little influence on the prices of local goods. Import goods from North Africa are already a topic in the potato trade. However, the first deliveries are not expected until the end of February. Due to the crop failures, especially in Belgium and Northern France, the supply of industrial potatoes also remains scarce. This should also support the prices for table potatoes.
Hesse:
Compared to the previous week, the potato prices in the state of Hesse remained largely stable. Nevertheless, they are still far above last year's levels.
