SV Agri's annual farm show in India features 14 new potato varieties

SV Agri recently held its Annual Variety and Seed Farm Show from January 8th to 10th, unveiling 14 new potato varieties. The company also announced plans to introduce eight additional promising varieties in the near future. During the event, SV Agri's Founder and Managing Director, Hemant Gaur, underscored the significance of these new varieties for the evolution of potato farming and markets in India.

Gaur praised the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) for its role in developing new varieties and spotlighted SV Agri's partnership with Agrico, a prominent potato seed producer from the Netherlands. Detailed profiles of the 14 showcased potato varieties, six of which are already being sold commercially by SV Agri, were provided.

All showcased varieties are currently under testing in over 50 locations, with 13 being white flesh varieties. The marketed varieties included one for ration, two for French fries, and three for chips. These varieties, named Lavender, Ganesh, Winner, Cyrus, Napoleon, and Nike, have shown excellent yields and storage capabilities in different fields. The exhibition primarily focused on new varieties that are resilient to climate change and cater to emerging market needs.
