During a session of the working group dedicated to the development and modernization of pistachio processing terminals, Karim Zolfaghari, the head of the Center for Mechanization of Development and Agricultural Industry in Iran, expressed Iran's ambition to enhance the export of high-quality pistachios to global markets.
Zolfaghari emphasized Iran's leading position in the export of premium pistachios worldwide. To maintain this leadership, he stressed the importance of improving sanitation and quality levels in collaboration with relevant authorities such as the Plant Protection Organization, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Iranian National Standards Organization.
He highlighted that Iran operates around a thousand mechanized and semi-mechanized pistachio processing centres, with 76 terminals meeting high standards and undergoing sanitary control by the relevant authorities.
Moreover, Zolfaghari noted that the volume of dried pistachio exports to the European Union constitutes a tenth of the country's total processing capacity, indicating significant potential for growth in this market segment.
