"Fellini Patrizio" makes an assessment after the past few months

"Vegetable availability is now almost in line with a normal year"

The quantities of vegetables available at the moment are almost in line with expectations after the gaps in supply of the past few months. Luca Pollarini and Luca Zucconelli from "Fellini Patrizio" discuss the current situation from their point of view.

"The past few weeks have been really difficult, but now we have gone back to a situation that is more normal thanks to our productions and our effort. 2023 was very complicated due to the frost, floods, bad weather and almost spring-like winter temperatures. At the moment (January 26, editor's note), supplies are rather regular, though not abundant."

Prices reflect the current trend and are not too bad, they would actually be very profitable for producers if costs were not increasingly higher. "Sales proceed but there is no rushing. Big retail chain reports that sales are average. As quantities are pretty much in line with demand, prices are within the norm."

What the sector lacks is planning. "We are already planning summer productions with our suppliers. Of course, when we make a commitment we want to maintain it, so we have taken quite the risk. We try to safeguard our producers as much as possible, because they are the most important resource a company like ours can have."

"Planning is a priority and we would like to receive even more support from final clients."
