Brazilian fruit exports hit record high in 2023

Brazil's fruit exports witnessed a 6% rise in 2023, reaching a total of 1.06 million tons and generating revenue in excess of $1.2 billion, a substantial 26.73% increase from the previous year. This growth can be attributed to the diverse array of fruits cultivated in Brazil, the recognition of Brazilian product quality in international markets, and the exploration of new markets.

Guilherme Coelho, president of the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivative Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas), praised the efforts of Brazilian fruit growers. He attributed this record to their relentless commitment to producing high-quality fruits while respecting the environment and striving for excellence. Brazil, ranking third globally in fruit production, is a significant contributor to the cultivation of mangoes, melons, grapes, oranges, bananas, and acerola.

The DataLiner data-based chart below illustrates the Brazilian ports that exported the most fruit in the first eleven months of last year.

Mangoes topped the export list with a 51.52% increase in value and 15% in volume. Melons followed, showing significant growth of 20.93% in value. Avocado exports also saw progressive growth, while banana exports declined. Orange exports experienced a substantial increase of 610% in volume. Apple sales also saw a modest increase of 2.83%.
