Potato Market Report Week 04-05:

'Deliveries of Italian and Cypriot early potatoes expanded'

Domestic food storage potatoes were evidently predominant. Availability had not changed significantly and was sufficient to satisfy interest. Due to cost factors, there were occasional slight increases in price. Only Munich reported slight discounts on domestic offers. In the area of early food potatoes, Italian and Cypriot deliveries expanded according to BLE. Initial stocks were formed, which traders tried to reduce with reduced prices.

Rhineland-Palatinate:
The potato market is balanced at the achieved price level. Demand is stable, and the selling prices are accepted. Direct marketers also report seasonally stable sales. Processing potatoes are valued higher, the unharvested cultivation areas in the neighboring foreign countries and the northern German states are reducing the supply. Stable to firm prices are still expected.

Schleswig-Holstein:
In the potato wholesale business, the market situation remains balanced for the time being. The demand is met with suitable quantities. Prices remained unchanged this week. At the turn of the month, there is talk of a slight increase in demand. This can be met by the producer companies without any problems. However, the supply could tighten in the coming weeks. The storage stocks are decreasing. This is accompanied by high sorting out. For the time being, the rates should not change. However, further price fluctuations cannot be ruled out in the medium term. There is already growing interest in quality goods from France in the trade. However, these are quite expensive. Imports of early goods from Egypt and the Mediterranean will only be available in a few weeks. Thus, the tight supply situation should continue for a while and bring room for price increases for local quality goods.

Lower Saxony:
Although the market trend in January is usually rather calm, the demand for table potatoes this year was consistently good, according to the BVNON.

NRW:
The demand for table potatoes is described as steady. The supply from the crate cooling warehouses remains demand-covering. The industrial potato market continues to be dynamic. The REKA price was again significantly increased by 5.00 €/100 kg.

Hesse:
In the state of Hesse, there were no price changes compared to the previous week. However, the prices of all potatoes are still significantly above the previous year's level.
