Freshly voted 'Flavor of the Year 2024' in the “Responsible Taste” and “Organic and Virtuous” categories, the Candine apple has been the focus of a powerful campaign to establish itself on the French market. Blue Whale aims to “reverse the trend of declining consumption among young people by offering an apple that is sweet, crunchy and refreshing.”
The company wants to continue to focus on “high potential” varieties. Because “the reality is that many consumers have been disappointed in recent years by the inconsistent quality of apples, and they have therefore turned away from the shelf. The Candine variety has the potential to reconcile consumers with apples.”
The volumes of Candine apples reached 6,500 tons this year, of which 2,500 tons were organic. A third of the Candine sales are made on the French market, mainly to supermarkets and wholesalers.
“Creating a strong brand identity around the Candine apple”
To support the growth of the Candine variety, Blue Whale launched a powerful campaign last October, focusing on the qualities of the apple “with a capital C”. The goal of this multi-channel campaign was to “create a strong point of reference” with urban billboards, press, influencer campaigns and a digital campaign aimed at urban and active consumers, focusing on “healthy lifestyles.” The media campaign was a great success, with over 22 million contacts, and the influencer campaign attracted over 610,000 contacts thanks to Hervé Cuisine's street interviews.”
The Candine will be present at the International Agricultural Show in Paris on March 2nd and 3rd, in partnership with the National Apple Pear Association and the Lot-et-Garonne department.
