VBT figures week 6:

While Belgian greenhouse vegetable prices keep falling, strawberry prices rebound

In Belgium, large greenhouse vegetable prices remained below the five-year average in week 6, too. A slight uptick in the median price for loose and vine tomatoes could not prevent that. Cucumber median prices even kept declining.

The average price per kilogram for tomatoes at the Association of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives' (VBT) auctions stood at exactly €1.50 per kg of TOVs. The price for a kilogram of loose tomatoes was rounded off at €1.43.

The median price for a cucumber was €0.435 in week 6, while lettuce prices also fell. The price per head of lettuce was €0.35. For other greenhouse varieties, only Lollo Rossa's median price rebounded to an average of €1.29 per piece.

The positive exception amid generally declining prices is strawberries. Their median price has found its way upward again. In line with the five-year average, the price in week 6 rose to just over €8.61.
