Protest actions reach Spain: Trucks carrying vegetables rerouted to activists' depot

The protests in France and Belgium have now spilled over to Spain. "In the past 24 hours, protesting Spaniards have repeatedly pulled over trucks from Morocco and Senegal. These activists then drive these to local depots, where they switch off the refrigeration and leave the doors open. Then, if and when the trucks may leave is anyone's guess," reports a Dutch importer.

"At this point, we have no idea if we'll get these shipments to the Netherlands at all. And then, the question remains whether we can do anything with the trade once it gets here. After all, the cooling has been off for several hours. Besides the financial impact, stopping the trucks and those delays mean we don't receive enough product to fulfill all customer orders 100%. We hope this stops very soon," the importer concludes.
