In a recent operation, Bryansk customs officials in Russia intercepted over 15 tons of pears lacking proper documentation. They were transported under the guise of being 'potatoes' from Belarus to Stavropol Krai.
The discovery was made at the “Krasny Kamen” checkpoint where, upon inspection, pears were found concealed beneath potato sacks. Tatiana Makarova, leading the customs control service post-release of goods at Bryansk, highlighted the unsuitable sanitary conditions of the fruit transport, emphasizing the absence of necessary documents and raising concerns over the product's safety and quality.
The incident has led to the detention of the cargo, with potential fines ranging from 50,000 to 300,000 rubles (€ 500 to 3,000) under Article 16.3 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation, addressing violations related to the import of goods without compliance with established restrictions and prohibitions.
