Motorists advised not to throw fruit peels and apple cores on the road

Drivers are warned against discarding fruit peels and apple cores on roads, as it attracts animals, leading to potentially fatal accidents. Despite 45% of UK adults believing biodegradable waste isn't litter, National Highways emphasizes its danger to wildlife.

Collaborating with the RSPCA and Keep Britain Tidy, they aim to reduce roadside litter, which poses significant risks to animals and requires costly clean-up efforts, including motorway lane closures. Over three years, the RSPCA reported over 10,000 cases of animals harmed by litter in England and Wales.
