After analyzing the favorable evolution of long/black eggplants in recent days, the Crisis Committee of Hortyfruta, the Andalusian Fruit and Vegetable Inter-branch Organization, has decided to deactivate the Standard Extension for this vegetable that was in force since February 16 of this year.
Thus, starting Friday, March 1, all producers and marketers in Andalusia will be able to sell the second-class categories of this vegetable for fresh consumption.
On February 16, the Crisis Committee activated the Standard Extension for long/black eggplant, banning the marketing of second-class eggplants.
Hortyfruta and its member organizations continuously evaluate the market's evolution of horticultural products and assess if they need to apply the Extension of the Quality Standard to stop the sale of second-class categories of a certain vegetable if the market requires it.
