According to the agency's interim assessments, from 2020 to 2023, blueberries from Georgia were exported by up to 50 companies. 90% of the exports primarily go to the Russian Federation.
In 2020-2022, the level of market export was low-concentrated, while in 2023, the index rose to moderate market concentration.
The quantity of blueberries exported from the country has surged. In 2020, the total export volume amounted to 654.9 tons, witnessing a 500% increase in 2023–3412 tons.
Alongside the quantitative metric, the total value of exported blueberries also escalated. Specifically, in 2020, blueberry exports were valued at $11.3 million, in 2021 - $17.5 million, and in 2022 - $23.8 million, with the total export value in 2023 reaching $53.9 million (a 475% increase).
The combined share of 5 major companies in the export market ranges from 43% to 65% over the studied period. There is no dominant economic agent in the market, nor are there any conditions necessary for the existence of a group dominant position.
The agency continues to monitor the blueberry market, with the final report expected to be prepared in 2024.
