Potentially including potatoes, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and carrots

Latvia plans to expand list of banned Russian and Belarusian import products

The Ministry of Agriculture in Latvia is set to propose an expansion of the list of goods from Russia and Belarus that may face an import ban. This proposal, encompassing a wide range of agricultural and fodder products, is expected to be reviewed by the Cabinet of Ministers. Prime Minister Evika Siliņa indicated that similar measures are being considered by Poland and Lithuania.

The expanded ban could potentially include a variety of vegetables such as potatoes, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and carrots, among others. Fruits like bananas, dates, and berries, along with nuts, are also on the list. Furthermore, the prohibition might extend to grains such as wheat, rye, and maize, in addition to products derived from these commodities.

Additionally, the ban is poised to cover flour, pellets from various sources, bran, and other residues intended for animal feed. Notably, the revised list no longer includes oilseeds, fruits, and certain plants previously considered for the ban. This adjustment underscores the dynamic nature of the regulatory landscape in response to the ongoing situation with Russia and Belarus.
