The Italian company Assomech has developed a processing line for L'Ortolano di Sestu (Cagliari, Italy) that allows celery to be processed with fewer workers but with higher yields. "The Sardinian company contacted us through their director, Salvatore Pisanu," explains Peter Calisesi, Assomech's manager, "because they wanted to improve their yields when processing celery. We evaluated their request and then produced a customized line."
First, the processing line is modular. It is currently built with a specific length, but it can be extended as production increases. "With the system we proposed, it is possible to automate two types of cuts, either for the celery heart, which is then placed in the tray and filmed, or for the full-length celery, ready to be bagged."
"The production line allows the customer to automatically select the desired cut, while also recovering waste and washing and draining the product directly as part of the process. A fast-bagging system at the end facilitates the operators and improves the efficiency and quality of the finished product."
"We at Assomech," concludes Calisesi, "would like to express our gratitude to Salvatore Pisanu and all the staff for the trust they have placed in us and the excellent collaboration that has been created. When technology facilitates the work of companies, reduces labor costs and increases yields, it ultimately benefits the entire supply chain."
Assomech will be present at Macfrut, Hall D1 Stand 195.
