Kazakhstan's fruit and berry exports surged in 2023

In 2023, Kazakhstan saw a significant surge in fruit and berry exports, increasing by 1.5 times to 126,100 tons compared to 2022, generating $23.2 million in revenue. Apple sales skyrocketed by 7.4 times, reaching 35,800 tons, with major buyers including Russia (32,900 tons), Uzbekistan (2,500 tons), and Kyrgyzstan (271.5 tons).

Grapes exports soared by 5.4 times to 14,100 tons, mainly purchased by Russia and Tajikistan. Apricots and plums were fully exported to Russia (8,600 tons), along with berries (strawberries, cherries) at 4,500 tons, and persimmons at 8,600 tons.

Additionally, Kazakhstan exported 24,200 tons of melons (up by 16.5%), primarily to Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, and Germany. Fig and date exports increased by 1.7 times to 7,500 tons, destined for Russia, Belarus, and Turkey.

On the contrary, watermelon exports declined by 4.3 times to 7,600 tons, notably to Russia (5,600 tons), Belarus (795.9 tons), Mongolia (1,000 tons), and Latvia (122.5 tons).

Citrus exports (oranges, mandarins, pomelo, grapefruits, and lemons) decreased by 7% to 6,600 tons, shipped to Uzbekistan and Russia.
