Uzbekistan significantly boosted its exports of fruits and vegetables to Russia in the first quarter of this year, according to the Federal Service Rosselkhoznadzor. The country shipped around 70,000 tons of fruit and vegetable products to Russia, nearly 1.8 times more than the same period in 2023, which saw 39,500 tons.
The import of cabbage skyrocketed by 11 times, from 3,200 to 38,000 tons, while persimmons increased by 6.2 times, from 233 to 1,500 tons. Additionally, cauliflower rose by 3.2 times, from 893 to 2,900 tons, and carrots surged by 3.3 times, from 1,500 to 4,900 tons.
The report also noted consistently high levels of imports from Uzbekistan in previous years, particularly of onions, nectarines, and peaches.
Discussions on the prospects of business relations and mutually beneficial trade took place during talks between the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, and the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Davron Vahobov.
