According to Rosselkhoznadzor, by April 14th, Russia had imported 2.5 million tons of fruit and vegetable products, marking a 10% rise compared to the same period last year, as reported by the Federal State Information System "Argus-PHYTO."
Cabbage imports surged by almost 1.67 times, while onions and garlic increased by 1.55 times, and lettuce vegetables by 1.4 times. The agency did not provide specific volume data.
Uzbekistan was identified as the top supplier of cabbage, increasing imports by 10.5 times. Kazakhstan also significantly boosted onion and garlic shipments by 5.7 times.
Tomato imports grew by 29.2%, dried vegetables by 27.4%, melons, watermelons, and papayas by 22.2%, root vegetables by 21.6%, citrus fruits by 20%, dried fruits by 15.5%, stone fruits by 14.9%, cucumbers by 13.9%, and peppers and zucchinis by 13.6%.
Banana imports rose by 4.7%, primarily from Ecuador, China, Vietnam, and Costa Rica. Ecuador remains the largest exporter, with 441,300 tons imported since the beginning of the year.
The main suppliers of fruit and vegetable products to Russia include EAEU countries, as well as Turkey, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, China, India, and others.
