A new pineapple processing facility in Taiwan by June 2024

The pineapple sector is becoming increasingly diversified, with a wide range of products suitable for both fresh consumption and various types of processed products. The Italian company PND, manufacturer of machinery for the fruit processing industry, is building a new plant which will be dedicated to this very fruit. It is presented by Daniele Mercurio, manager of PND for only a year, whose collaboration has proved invaluable for the commercial results achieved.

"We are proud to have sold a new line that has already been tested and appreciated by several customers worldwide," says the sales manager responsible for PND's new Asian market. "The line will be installed in Taiwan in June. The line can process up to two and a half tons per hour, requires only nine operators and consists of two machines, the PL4D peeler and corer and the SS8 cutter."

The PL4D is a semi-automatic, manually fed, intuitive and user-friendly peeling machine. It has a production capacity of 24/28 fruits per minute. The double speed regulation of both the product and the blade allows the peeling of pineapples of all shapes, even those that are not calibrated or irregular, with a yield of 55%, without affecting their nutritional and organoleptic integrity. The machine is equipped with two conveyors, one for the peeled product and the other for the rejected product, counters for product inspection and rejection and a chute for rejected products. In addition, its food-grade stainless steel structure ensures maximum durability and hygiene in the processing environment.

"A perfect match with the PL4D," continues Mercurio, "is the SS8 universal slicer and corer, which on the other hand guarantees a speed of 40 fruits per minute. It is a semi-automatic machine that, thanks to the possibility of changing the blades and gauges, allows quality slicing in different shapes (slices, wedges and cubes, depending on the company's needs) and sizes. The operator only has to load the fruit, as the automatic mechanism pushes it through the blades, allowing it to be cut and pulled onto the outfeed belt for packaging."
