First consignment of Rajshahi mangoes cultivated via contract farming sent to Europe

The inaugural consignment of Khirsapati mangoes, cultivated via contract farming in Bagha subdistrict, Rajshahi, has been dispatched to Europe. The shipment, totaling two tons, is divided equally between France and London.

The initiative is facilitated by Square Group, in collaboration with 21 local farmers committed to exporting mangoes adhering to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). These practices emphasize hygienic production, safety, environmental protection, and the health of agricultural workers. The comprehensive management approach covers the judicious use of fertilizers, irrigation, pesticides, seeds, and post-harvest processes to ensure product safety and quality.

This consignment marks the continuation of Bagha's mango export activities, initiated in 2016. On the season's first day, 1,800 kg of mangoes were dispatched by Sadi Enterprises, alongside 200 kg from farmer Bidyut Hossain's garden. The exporting process involves certification from local agriculture officials and the Shyampur Packing House and Quarantine Centre in Dhaka, affirming adherence to GAP standards.
