Since June 3, Lithuania has implemented a ban on the import of certain types of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus. This information was reported on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania.
"To properly enforce the law 'On restrictive measures in connection with the military aggression against Ukraine,' the Government of Lithuania has approved a list of agricultural products and feeds of Russian and Belarusian origin, prepared by the Ministry, containing over 2800 items," the statement says.
It is noted that the list was prepared taking into account the quantity, structure, and value of the import of agricultural products and feeds. It includes products from 24 groups, including plants, vegetables, fruits, coffee and spices, and other items.
"Taking into account a detailed analysis of import data from Russia and Belarus and possible significant losses for processors, as well as feedback received during public consultations with the public, agricultural products that do not have alternative sources of import (some animal feeds, berries, syrups) are not included in the specified list," the ministry added.
The duration of the specified ban is set until May 2, 2025.
