DSR Logistics acquires another four trailers from Dawsongroup Benelux

"Due to our service, we were able to grow to 45 vehicles in five years"

Just five years ago, the Roelandt family, one of Belgium's leading industrial bakeries, and the Desoete family joined forces, marking the inception of DSR Logistics. In early 2020, the Desoete family acquired the remaining shares from the Roelandt family. For Robin (27) and his brother, Laurens Desoete, this fulfilled a childhood dream of owning their own business after years of working in transportation.

In just five years, the vehicle fleet of the transport company from Evergem has grown to an impressive 45 trucks, thanks in part to acquisitions. "Our growth has primarily been driven by providing excellent service. Customers need more than just someone to transport their products; they need a partner who can solve problems for them. Helping people - whether it's a client with a query or a driver with an issue – is my main motivation," explains Robin, who is in charge of scheduling.

The main operational area of DSR Logistics is the Benelux, but the trucks also reach the early market in Rungis, Paris, and as far as Bremen and Hannover in Germany. About 50% of the transportation involves fruits and vegetables, with the remainder primarily consisting of meat transport. "We mainly work for producers supplying large supermarket chains. Many clients place orders in the morning that need to be delivered the same day. That's why we operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

Fuel services
Shortly after its foundation, DSR Logistics acquired the logistics service provider Eurosun. In 2023, it took over the transportation division of potato producer Warnez, which included about eight tractors. "By taking over our client's fleet and managing all their logistics, we can make transportation more cost-effective. Additionally, we offer a wide range of transportation services. For instance, we provide farmers with fuel services on the field."

And the plans for the future? "To continue growing at a comfortable pace. If you deliver quality, the work will keep coming," the young transport entrepreneur says with a smile. "The biggest challenge is finding enough drivers to do the work. We mainly employ Belgian drivers, but it's getting increasingly difficult to find them for weekend work, so we're also hiring Polish colleagues."

Chereau as the brand of choice
In the rapid growth that DSR Logistics is experiencing, it has found a reliable partner in Dawsongroup Benelux. The transport company previously purchased a number of refrigerated trailers, and has now ordered the next four. "We've been working with Dawsongroup Benelux for four years now, and for us, it's a perfect collaboration. They can act quickly. Plus, Chereau is our brand of choice, so the decision is easy."

"We have a good relationship with Jannick van der Laan from Dawsongroup. We prefer to purchase, but during busy periods, being able to rent refrigerated trailers is ideal for us. We will definitely be placing more orders in the future, as I don't expect the workload to decrease," concludes Robin.
