BLE market report weeks 23/24

'Discounts on apricots were observed quite often"

Spanish apricots clearly dominated the market scene. French and Italian batches followed at a considerable distance. Matador from Turkey were available on many, but not all markets. Turkish Sekerpare apricots have so far only arrived in Munich. Greek products supplemented the scene in Frankfurt. Hungarian imports, sorted and packed in Austria, were able to convince in terms of taste in Munich. The dominant Spanish items sometimes left something to be desired in terms of their organoleptic properties, according to the BLE. French products occasionally lacked aroma. Overall, availability had significantly expanded. Demand could not always keep up, although it was by no means unfriendly. Discounts were often recorded, especially smaller calibers could not always avoid price reductions.

Apples
The aging European assortment continuously narrowed, while overseas shipments kept expanding: New Zealand, Chilean, and South African offers now made up a large portion of the supply.

Pears
Business was uneventful: supply and demand were sufficiently balanced. Distributors therefore rarely had to modify their demands.

Grapes
Italian deliveries in the form of Black Magic and Victoria gained importance. Egyptian shipments also increased, with Flame Seedless and Prime Seedless usually available.

Strawberries
Domestic fruits clearly dominated. Availability had generally expanded. As a result, interest could not always keep up, leading to often downward trending prices.

Cherries
Spanish shipments prevailed, followed by Turkish in terms of importance. Greece and Germany participated with almost equal amounts. Italian batches complemented the marketing, which recently also included French and Belgian offers.

Peaches/Nectarines
Shipments had overall increased. Due to low temperatures, interest was not particularly strong. Traders therefore often had to reduce their previous prices.

Lemons
Spanish Verna dominated and were hardly impressed by the increased arrivals of South African Eureka. Ratings mostly remained constant.

Bananas
Mostly, supply and demand were sufficiently balanced, so distributors did not need to modify their previous prices.

Cauliflower
Domestic deliveries dominated, followed by Belgian and Polish offers in terms of importance. Turkish products also arrived, occasionally.

Lettuce
In the case of head lettuce, domestic batches prevailed over Belgian ones. In some places, a few Dutch products were also available. For ice lettuce, Spanish offers exited the marketing.

Cucumbers
The assortment of cucumbers consisted of domestic, Dutch, and Belgian offers. Demand could be satisfied without difficulty. Price changes were the exception.

Tomatoes
Belgian and Dutch shipments formed the basis of the supply. The supply expanded, and the quality of the offers was usually quite convincing. The friendly demand could be satisfied without difficulty.

Bell peppers
Availability was sufficiently adjusted to the storage possibilities. Nevertheless, prices often increased at the beginning of the week.

Asparagus
The season is over, the end of the campaign is already in sight: Domestic deliveries narrowed. Both white and purple and green stalks were not as extensively represented as in the previous week.
