Cargo-partner introduces intermodal transport solutions throughout Europe and Turkey

In addition to rail transport solutions between Asia and Europe, the international transport and logistics provider now offers intermodal services to and from various countries within Europe, including Turkey, the UK and Ireland. Seamlessly combining rail and road, intermodal transport provides substantial benefits in terms of cost efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.

In response to the ongoing truck driver shortage and frequent road congestion at European borders, cargo-partner has introduced a range of intermodal transport solutions covering a wide network of both EU- and non-EU countries.

Intermodal as a reliable and sustainable alternative
Cargo-partner's intermodal transport solutions utilize 45 ft pallet wide containers and 13.6 m tilt trailers, leveraging rail for the main transit leg and ensuring that goods move without transloading between transport modes. This method not only reduces costs but also minimizes environmental impact, with potential CO₂ savings of up to 80% compared to conventional trucking solutions.

"The efficiency and reliability of intermodal logistics make it an ideal choice for various industries," stated Vladislav Kovačovský, Corporate Product Manager Intermodal at cargo-partner. "Industries such as fashion, electronics, automotive, and general industrial goods benefit significantly from its cost-effectiveness and reduced environmental footprint."

The need for such innovative solutions was prompted by current logistical bottlenecks, such as the recent line of trucks at the Hamzabeyli/Kapetan Andreevo border between Turkey and Bulgaria. Such delays underscore the need for alternative transport methods to circumvent growing congestion and border crossing challenges.

Flexible routing options for Europe-wide, door-to-door coverage
Cargo-partner's range of intermodal services includes flexible routing options with frequent departures to and from Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey as well as Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. In addition, Belgium and the Netherlands are used as gateways for providing further transport services to the UK and Ireland.

Intermodal transport is particularly suitable for long-haul shipments over 1,000 kilometers, offering competitive transit times and stable pricing over extended periods. Supported by a robust network of European rail hubs and seamless door-to-door connectivity, intermodal logistics ensures reliability and efficiency across diverse geographies.

"Our integrated approach combines road and rail transport, delivering a sustainable alternative that reduces road congestion and ensures smooth transport processes," Vladislav Kovačovský added.

With an ongoing truck driver shortage that is expected to worsen in the coming years and tens of thousands of driver vacancies already, intermodal logistics offers a viable solution to relieve pressure on traditional road freight. By using rail as the primary mode of transport, companies can reduce reliance on congested road networks while effectively meeting growing transport demands.
