The new version of the Green horizontal packaging machine by GNA, an Italian company based in Ozzano dell'Emilia (Bologna) specializing in the development, production and sale of packaging machines for the food and non-food industry, features several mechanical improvements to increase the machine's sturdiness and functionality, an innovative control panel and network connection for diagnosis and remote monitoring.
"With these innovations, the Green machine proves to be a state-of-the-art system that guarantees excellent performance," emphasizes Valerio Nucci, founder of GNA. "Fruit and vegetables are one of the main applications. Just think of kiwis, small fruits, strawberries, table grapes, tomatoes, apples, pears, mandarins and zucchini. The Green machine is adept at horizontal pad wrapping with flexible plastic and paper+net (including fabric) films."
"It is one of our best-selling machines, and it also performs well in the bakery and non-food sectors. In the fruit and vegetable sector, we are currently selling it for seasonal fruit in baskets such as peaches, grapes and apricots. The new version of Green is already available, and a number of units have already been delivered."
"This is a significant step forward in terms of flexibility, efficiency and ease of use, thanks mainly to major mechanical changes," says Massimiliano Nucci, GNA's design and R&D manager. "Specifically, our new Green machine features a redesigned pause unit, an upper welder with separate supports, and a reinforced support structure. What this means in practice is that we have replaced the pause assembly with a more structurally rigid one with horizontal translation, and added a tachometer with mechanical locking, which allows the pause position to be displayed accurately. In addition, the introduction of separate supports for the top sealer improves the stability and precision of the sealing process. Finally, the load-bearing structure has been improved in strength and stability by shifting the position of the front feet. Sockets for forklift forks have also been introduced to facilitate movement."
At the heart of the updated version of the Green machine is a revolutionary element, a colour control panel, much larger and more intuitive. "This innovation represents a real technological leap forward, opening the door to a series of functions dedicated to the consultation of production data. Thanks to its simple, cutting-edge interface, the panel becomes the point of contact for the operator, who, with a few simple gestures, can access a universe of information that is crucial for managing and optimizing production processes," explains Nucci.
The new Green has on-board documentation, including diagrams, manuals and graphical representations, making it easier to maintain and operate the machine. Operators can quickly access all the information they need, improving operational efficiency and reducing time spent searching for documents.
Internet connectivity for remote monitoring and assistance
One of the most significant new features is the ability to connect to a network, enabling real-time diagnostics and remote service. This means that operators can receive immediate support and resolve any problems immediately, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
Another key feature is the connection to the company's MES (Manufacturing Execution System). "The planned integration enables continuous and in-depth monitoring of the manufacturing processes. This will significantly improve quality management and allow us to optimize the use of resources," concludes Nucci.
