Cooperatives in the Mogilev region of Belarus are actively engaging in the procurement of forest berries and other wild produce this season. A remarkable increase has been noted in the collection of blueberries. According to Anatoly Taranov, head of the industry and procurement department of the Mogilev Consumer Society, blueberries have already been harvested, nearly doubling last year's total.
The average price per kilogram has started at EUR1.1, but current market conditions have seen purchase prices rise to EUR1.7.
Attention is being paid not only to the quantity of harvested berries but also to their quality, ensuring competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. A significant portion of the blueberries will be exported to Russia.
In addition to blueberries, cooperatives are also actively collecting chanterelles and garden berries such as cherries and currants. Prices for chanterelles this season range from EUR1.7 to EUR2.8 per kilogram, reflecting market demand and dynamics.
