A new opportunity between Macfrut and the airports of Rimini and San Marino

In 2024, Macfrut benefited from Italy's additional Frecciarossa train service, with more connections coming from both north and south, stopping at the Rimini Fiera station. Air arrivals may increase in 2025, perhaps with a stopover at the nearby Federico Fellini International Airport of Rimini and San Marino, in addition to the existing Bologna Airport, which is still well served by a 70-minute shuttle service.

The possibility of a closer relationship between the airport and the fair in the future is indicated by the fact that Renzo Piraccini, president of Macfrut, has recently been appointed to the board of directors of the "F. Fellini" airport. Moreover, it could be an advantage for the entire region, since it is the intention of the company to implement cargo services, which are essential for exports, including those of the agri-industry.

"The assembly of shareholders of AIRiminum 2014 S.p.A., the company that manages the Federico Fellini International Airport, was held to approve the financial statements for the year 2023, which closed with a profit of 41,093 euros, fully allocated to the company's net assets, which amount to 9,392,484 euros," according to a press release.

"The meeting continued with the appointment of the company's new Board of Directors for the next three years. Among the members of the new Board of Directors are new councillors Roberto Vergari, former Enac executive and and Renzo Piraccini, president of Cesena Fiera."

"As of June 30, commercial passenger growth in the first six months of 2024 is approximately +23% over the same period in 2023," according to the press release.
