New Ippolito variety blood oranges from Australia

As the citrus summer (counter) season is in full swing from the Southern Hemisphere citrus growing countries, there is a new blood orange variety from Australia: the Ippolito variety. Australian exports of navels, mandarins and blood oranges are widely available in the U.S. and Canada.

This new variety for Australia is originally from Sicily in Italy. Ippolito has a bright red colour and good nutritional qualities. An exciting innovation in the blood orange market. With their striking blood-red flesh, these oranges not only captivate the eye but also deliver an exceptionally sweet taste. Unlike traditional varieties known for their bitterness, Ippolito blood oranges promise a delightful and flavourful experience, setting a new citrus standard.

Maria Nelmes, GM at Eternal Fresh says "Customers love the exquisite Ippolito blood oranges for their irresistibly sweet flavour, vibrant blood-red flesh, and blush-coloured skin. We expect the 2024 season to last about eight weeks, depending on quality, harvest from late July until mid-September."

Eternal Fresh owns multiple plant breeders' rights (PBR) and exclusive marketing rights for some unique varieties as a large integrated horticulture businesses in Australia.
