Venlo, the Netherlands

New crop of celeriac launched in tight market

At growers' association Fossa Eugenia, the new crop of celeriac has started. Fossa member Berden Agro BV specialises in celeriac.

In Venlo last week, the last tubers from storage went over the conveyor belt, after which a switch to new crop was made immediately.

"Currently, the supply is quite tight: the tubers from storage are almost exhausted and early cultivation is starting later this year due to the cold and wet spring," says Luc Berden.

Berden's celeriac is supplied both with and without leaves, for fresh market, retail and processing.
