The harvest of Williams pears in Mantua began at the beginning of August, about ten days earlier than usual, and will be marketed by La Grande Bellezza Italiana at the end of August under the 'Pera di Mantova IGP' brand. "We are committed to promoting the best Italian fruit and vegetables and we are delighted with this decision," says Leonardo Odorizzi, La Grande Bellezza Italiana's contact.
"This is because the objective of all our actions is the same, that is, to improve the product in such a way that the producer receives the right price for his work. This is an ongoing commitment that is not easy to achieve, but one that we work towards every day," says Odorizzi with determination.

The Mantua PGI Pear was officially recognised in 1998. La Grande Bella Italiana has invested in this product, whose local origin and typicality represent an added value appreciated by consumers.
"William and Abate are the varieties of pears we offer that are registered with the PGI label. There are six major retail chains with whom we have already entered into commercial agreements. We will start with William at the end of August/beginning of September and then with Abate in autumn. We will be offering the product in trays with flow packs or in bulk with a label."
"As with the promotion of the Verona PGI peach," concludes Odorizzi, "and the other Protected Geographical Indications, the aim for the Mantua pear is to give producers a viable plan and an optimistic future. The great commitment and effort they have put in must be properly rewarded."
