August brings peak berry and fruit harvest in Finland

The Finnish Association of Fruit and Berry Growers reports an abundant August harvest for berries and fruits. Raspberries, currants, gooseberries, and blueberries are reaching their seasonal peak, with strawberries also notably available. Tomi Pousi of the Association highlighted the successful pollination and favourable summer conditions, contributing to a promising harvest and high-quality, ripe fruits. Growers have remarked on the aromatic and flavourful nature of the ripening berries, suggesting an optimal period for stocking up on local varieties.

Additionally, the Association has observed an early arrival of domestic apples in the market, attributed to a notably warm spring. The first apple varieties are expected to be harvested in early August in southern Finland. Despite some winter damage, the apple yield is anticipated to align with typical levels for the year.
