In July 2024, Polish apple exports saw a significant decline, particularly in shipments to distant markets outside the European Union. Belarus continues to be the largest and most important market for Polish apple producers, even amidst sanctions and new regulations, according to a report by sad24.pl.
In July 2024, Polish apple shipments to Belarus amounted to 2,993 tons. Although this is a decrease from last year's figure of 4,500 tons, Belarus still leads as the largest importer of Polish apples. The top three markets for Polish apples in July were:
- Belarus — 2,993 tons
- Kazakhstan — 1,586 tons
- Mongolia — 598 tons
It's worth noting that July 31, 2024, marked the last day Polish apples could be exported to Belarus under current regulations. As of now, the import of these fruits is only permitted during a four-month window from April to July, after which Belarusian agricultural producers begin harvesting their own apple crops. Over the four months in 2024, nearly 22,000 tons of Polish apples were exported to Belarus.
The overall export of Polish apples in July showed a considerable decrease. Last year, 13,400 tons of apples were exported outside the European Union, whereas this year, only 7,100 tons were shipped—a drop of 47%.
