"A large number of merchants are focusing on the harvest of Shine Muscat grapes in the Shaanxi area"

The harvest of Shine Muscat grapes in Shaanxi, China, is about to begin, and a significant number of merchants are closely monitoring the situation. Reports indicate that demand is notably higher than in previous years.

"The harvest in Shaanxi's Shine Muscat production area is expected to start around August 20-25, yet many merchants have already arrived. This heightened interest is largely due to the Yunnan Shine Muscat season coming to an end, while the Xichang production area, which usually supplies the market afterward, has experienced slow sugar accumulation this year due to unfavourable weather, failing to meet market demand. Other regions have not yet entered the harvest season, so many merchants have turned their attention to Shaanxi, where the weather has been generally favourable," explained Mr. Zhou Liang from Shaanxi Biaotou Agriculture. Zhou is currently purchasing grapes in the Weinan production area of Shaanxi.

"Based on observations across different orchards, the grape growth looks promising, with ideal berry size, bunch shape, and Brix levels. The recent weather has been stable, and the market demands a Brix level of 16 or above. The current Brix is between 14-15, and it's expected to surpass 16 by harvest time."

"We're currently in a critical window: the production area isn't yet ready for harvest, but the market is running out of stock. At this stage, merchants are eager to secure fruit, but there's little suitable for picking."

On the other hand, it's been reported that one of the main production areas in Shaanxi Province experienced continuous heavy rains earlier, leading to flooding in many orchards. Grapes harvested before the rains couldn't be sold as premium commercial fruits because most weren't harvested in time, forcing them to be sold at reduced prices. This has caused fluctuations in the market for high-quality commercial fruit due to the decreased production.

Shaanxi Biaotou Agriculture specializes in selling Shaanxi's distinctive fruits, including apples, Dali winter jujubes, Queen Nina grapes, Angeleno plums, and nectarines, in addition to Shine Muscat grapes.
