Potatoes New Zealand proudly marks the one-year anniversary of Kate Trufitt's appointment as CEO. Since taking the helm in August 2023, Trufitt has demonstrated exceptional leadership, championing the interests of potato growers and driving innovation within the industry.

Key Highlights of Kate Trufitt's First Year include Commodity levy success. Under her leadership, Potatoes New Zealand secured an impressive 94.74% approval for the proposed commodity levy from the eligible voting growers, reflecting broad support.
The strategy for 2028 was launched. She played a pivotal role in the development of Potatoes New Zealand's Strategy 2028. This forward-looking strategy, shaped by extensive grower consultation and industry feedback, aims to guide the sector's growth and resilience over the coming years.
Industry Growth, despite various challenges, the outlook for the New Zealand potato industry remains positive. Kate's strategic vision is set to enhance key relationships, expand market opportunities, and strengthen the industry.
Trufitt has been dedicated to community engagement to strengthen connections within the potato community. Her efforts include direct visits to growers and stakeholders, ensuring they have the support necessary for success.
Research and innovation and recognising the importance of research and development, Truffit has fostered partnerships with leading research institutions to drive advancements in potato breeding, pest control, and disease management.
