New British frozen avocado pulp brand made possible by Peruvian avocado

Following on from their participation in a successful trade mission to Lima in December of 2023, the British company Fresh Union have recently launched a new brand in the UK: Avaluscious. With creamy avocados sourced directly from Peru, the brand offers frozen avocado pulp in easy access bags, predominantly to be used in the food service industry and for restaurants.

It is grown, processed, and packaged in Peru, Avaluscious have sought to create a product that is as natural as possible, with their frozen pulp consisting more than 99% of just avocado. It is hoped that this product will be useful for customers who require access to high quality avocado, without the hassle of having to purchase avocados when ripe, skin, and de-stone them.

More broadly though, the launch of Avaluscious is evidence of the good results that strong commercial ties between the UK and Peru can create. Oscar Gomes and Robert Murchison, Avaluscious' founders, highlighted that the launch of this brand would not have been possible without the opportunity to travel to Peru and meet suppliers, allowing them to connect directly with the origin of their product.

It is no secret that Peru's extensive irrigation systems have made the country a key global exporter of avocados, and so far this year exports to the UK have grown by 0.7% to US$ 29.8 million. Peru's international reputation as a supplier of fresh fruits and vegetables has been going from strength to strength for a number of years. What is encouraging though is how the country is using its strong reputation in this respect to establish itself as an important provider of other agricultural goods, such as frozen produce and prepared foodstuffs.

Products such as frozen asparagus, piquillo peppers, and lemon extract oil are all showing great potential for commercialisation in the UK, all of which would contribute to strengthening Peru's image as a food exporter in this market. In addition to this, the advent of brands like Avaluscious are granting increased exposure to the quality of Peruvian avocado, and the highly professionalised network of agribusinesses that the country boasts. British consumers will no doubt continue to enjoy avocado, and Peru will continue to be there, providing high quality products.
