Benzies produce expands its offerings in Asda stores across Scotland

Aberdeenshire-based Benzies Produce has been a long-standing supplier of carrots to Asda in Scotland for over 16 years. In a recent development, the company will now also provide over 500 tonnes of locally grown parsnips to all 62 Asda stores in Scotland, marking a significant expansion of its product range with the retailer.

Established in the early 1950s, Benzies Produce operates as a family-run farming business in Turriff, North-East Scotland. The business, currently managed by Philip and Hazel Benzie along with their stepson Charles, has reached its fourth generation and employs approximately 100 individuals. Specializing in the cultivation and packaging of Scottish root vegetables, Benzies has been supplying Asda with various carrot lines since 2008. The new agreement introduces three parsnip lines to their offerings, including 500g packs, loose parsnips, and Just Essentials parsnips.

Philip Benzie commented on the partnership's expansion, highlighting the local sourcing and packaging of their products. He emphasized the role of the partnership in supporting local agriculture and employment. Additionally, he mentioned the sustainability aspect of their operations, powered partly by a wind turbine that exports excess energy to the grid.

Ashley Connolly, Asda's Local Buying Manager for Scotland, expressed satisfaction with the extended partnership. Connolly underscored the commitment to providing Asda customers in Scotland with high-quality, locally grown vegetables, noting the benefits of reduced travel time and fresher produce on store shelves.
