On August 27, the first shipments of tomatoes from Europe arrived in Israel.
According to the Ynet portal, the "Rami Levy Shivuk a-Shikma" chain delivered a shipment of tomatoes from Greece, while the "Bihurei Sade" company imported tomatoes from the Netherlands and Poland.
The cost of importing tomatoes from Europe under the duty-free quota for retailers is 8–10 shekels per kilogram. Although this price remains high, it is significantly lower than the current market price of 17.5 shekels per kilogram for retailers.
