Düsseldorf wholesale market about to move to Hilden

Current capacity is already over 80 percent of the possible total area

The rich in tradition Düsseldorf wholesale market, a mainstay of the regional economy and an important supplier of fresh fruit and vegetables, has a new home. At the end of the year, the wholesale market will close its doors at its previous location in the north of Düsseldorf and move just beyond the city limits to Hilden near the south of Düsseldorf, from where it will continue to supply Düsseldorf and the entire region with fresh produce.

This marks the beginning of a new era for the wholesale market and its numerous retailers. The new location at Siemensstraße 20 in 40721 Hilden not only offers more space and better logistical options, but also a modernised infrastructure that meets today's requirements. Customers and suppliers can look forward to an even more efficient and customer-friendly market atmosphere.

A location with outlook
With the move to the new location as a central hub for fresh fruit and vegetables in the region, not only can all existing business relationships be continued without any problems, the new location also offers opportunities for further growth due to its geographical location. In the centre of the city triangle of Düsseldorf, Cologne and Wuppertal, not only is the catchment area growing, but numerous wholesalers from Cologne and the Bergisches Land region have already enquired about the new conditions at the wholesale market cooperative.

The majority of the members of the wholesale market cooperative have now signed the new rental agreements. The current utilisation rate is already over 80% of the possible total area. The cooperative is aiming for 100% utilisation of the total space in the short term. Fruit and vegetable wholesalers, producers and other wholesalers who trade in food and are interested in a strong community with a functioning network, professional management and modern infrastructure are welcome to contact the cooperative's back office. Modern office space is also available at the new location. These can be used by fruit agencies, trading companies or commercial enterprises, including those from other sectors. Space is also still available here.

A mainstay of the regional economy
"All retailers are already looking forward to the handover of the keys and are full of enthusiasm for the future of the new Düsseldorf wholesale market," says Roland Tolls, CEO of Großmarkthallen Düsseldorf eG and Managing Director of Berger & Tolls, which is based at the wholesale market. Fred-Markus Bohne, Managing Partner Panattoni Germany and Austria, emphasises the important function of the wholesale market: "The Düsseldorf wholesale market is a mainstay of the regional economy and plays an important role in supplying the population. We are delighted to be able to offer this traditional institution a new, future-orientated home." Bülent Alemdag, Managing Director of Realogis Immobilien Düsseldorf GmbH, has a similar view of the situation: "The signing of a lease of this size is a very positive boost for the Düsseldorf property market. The modern commercial location enables qualitative and quantitative growth for all users.
