Peru will produce nearly 80 million boxes of grapes in the 2024-2025 season

The Peruvian Association of Table Grape Producers and Exporters (Provid) announced its first harvest estimate for the 2024-2025 season, projecting 78.7 million boxes of 8.2 kilos. Provid based this forecast on the volumes estimated by associates and producers.

Grape production in the country's north was affected by adverse weather conditions last season but will recover this season. This shows that the grape sector has a strong capacity to overcome setbacks and adapt to new challenges, consolidating itself as a mature industry that seeks to maintain its competitiveness and positioning in the global market. The sector is also adapting to changing consumer preferences, especially through the use of new varieties that are also more productive.

In the coming season, Peru will export its grapes to more than 50 markets, including the United States, China, countries in Europe, and Latin America. Peru grows grapes along a large part of its coastal strip. Production is led by Ica (49%) and Piura (37%), followed by Lambayeque (6%), La Libertad (5%), Arequipa (3%), Ancash (0.5%), Lima (0.5%), and Moquegua (0.1%).

Table grapes drive significant economic growth in the producing regions, contributing to local economic stability. In addition, the industry is committed to sustainable practices that promote resource conservation and community well-being, thus reinforcing the country's commitment to responsible economic, social, and environmental development.

Provid will present its next estimates in October and December (when the season is already underway).
