According to a recent forecast from the Ukrainian Corporation of "Ukrvinprom," the grape harvest in Ukraine is projected to decrease by 30% compared to last year, according to the corporation's General Director, Volodymyr Kucherenko.
Kucherenko attributed the expected drop in yield to several factors, including the ongoing full-scale war, adverse weather conditions, and a reduction in the number of workers, which complicates vineyard maintenance.
He further explained that the negative impact is compounded by droughts in many regions of Ukraine and the lack of rainfall, as well as the mining of territory and the destruction of critical infrastructure by hostile forces. These issues have forced producers to cut back on production volumes.
Despite these challenges, Kucherenko noted that it is still too early to provide precise figures on the expected harvest, as the season has just begun.
