Last week marked a significant moment for China's pomelo export routes. The "Land-Sea-Rail Pomelo Express," a collaboration between COSCO Shipping and MinYue Logistics, officially launched, enabling the pomelos grown in Zhangzhou, Fujian, to be shipped to Europe with full "Land-Sea-Rail" protection.
In recent years, due to geopolitical conflicts, sea freight routes to Europe have become increasingly unstable, both in terms of pricing and shipping schedules. For Chinese foreign trade export companies, sea transport has become a topic of great concern.
July marks a critical period for exporting Fujian-grown Chinese pomelos to Europe. Traditionally, shipments have relied on departure from Xiamen Port, often resulting in longer delivery times. Developing new shipping routes, therefore, presents a significant advantage in ensuring the pomelos reach their destination with optimal quality.
What sets the new route apart is its streamlined and convenient full-chain operational process, beginning with the coordination of delivery schedules. It offers a "one-stop" service covering cross-border booking, container transfer, vehicle dispatch, and customs clearance, ensuring smooth transitions at each operational node. The fully loaded containers depart from Meizhou International Inland Port, are transferred via train to Yantian Port, and then shipped directly to Rotterdam Port in the Netherlands via fast ocean liners.
"At 9:27 AM, the fully loaded container entered the Meizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone, and by 9:43 AM, it was cleared for departure—a process that took only 16 minutes in total," said Ms. Qiao Hong, COO of Onedayone Group. "The clear and smooth process saves a lot of time. Through this Land-Rail-Sea route, the full-chain service provides a clear overview of the cargo's position and status, significantly reducing transportation time and costs. Compared to traditional shipping methods, the 'Land-Sea-Rail Pomelo Express' shortens the delivery time by 7 to 10 days, offering us a more stable, efficient, and flexible solution."
