Dutch variety Picasso wins at Potato Ukraine 2024

On August 30, 2024, Agrico Ukraine participated in the All-Ukrainian Potato Day event, Potato Ukraine 2024, held at the Eco Tur farm in Volyn. The event featured 65 new and promising potato varieties from eight Ukrainian and international breeding companies. Agrico's varieties stood out with their yield, stress resilience, and alignment with the discerning tastes of modern consumers.

The undisputed champion of this potato season was the Picasso variety, which achieved a commercial yield of 94 tons per hectare despite challenging weather conditions. The star lineup also included the varieties Ranomi and Spectra (74 tons/ha) and Paradiso and Fontane (54 tons/ha).

In extremely arid conditions, the varieties Picasso, Aliuett, Corazon, and Fontane showcased notable resistance to drought. Agro-experts provided potato producers with valuable insights into the technological nuances of growing Agrico varieties.

Carolien Spaans, Agricultural Advisor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine, highlighted the support for Ukraine's potato industry. She presented the successful implementation of a project aimed at creating a Potato Center for small and medium-sized producers in the Chernihiv region. The project includes the use of drip irrigation, modern potato machinery, and advanced seed potato storage technologies.
