Sebastian Dörmann from Frische Logistik GmbH:

"Growing customer base in other European countries"

The German logistics company Frische Logistik GmbH was founded three years ago from the existing vegetable growing and trading company Frische aus Westfalen GmbH. The young company has a modern logistics centre with 2,000 m2 of storage space and 350 cold storage bays, so that temperature-sensitive goods can be temporarily stored, handled and re-picked on time. Both on behalf of its parent company and third parties, the large central warehouses of the German food retail sector are served daily.

Since the company was founded in 2021, the general conditions in fruit logistics have become anything but easier, which is due to the toll increase and CO2 tax, among other things. Nevertheless, Frische Logistik GmbH has been able to record a pleasing growth every year. According to Dörmann, the key lies in efficiency: "We try to make our tours as efficient as possible to avoid empty runs and optimise routes. Open communication channels with customers and partners play a major, decisive role in this. Ultimately, we try to create a win-win situation for all customers of Frische Logistik and utilise potential to achieve optimum performance for each side."

Structural change in logistics
Maximum transparency and efficiency have also contributed to the growing customer base, Dörmann continues. "We have now also been able to win customers in other European countries, especially in the winter months, when there is little production in Germany and therefore fewer domestic orders."

Dörmann is also unsure where the journey in fresh produce logistics will take us. "The future remains exciting. In my opinion, logistics will continue to change due to the increase in large logistics hubs. Nevertheless, road transport will always play the biggest role here. If we continue to emphasise production in Germany, logistics will ultimately also be a major and important issue. We are facing up to these challenges and look forward to new partnerships," he concludes.
