Peru expands its agricultural presence in Asia

Peru continues its expansion in international markets and focuses on exporting its agricultural products to Asia, where China is the main destination for its fruits and vegetables. According to PromPerĂș, in 2023, Peru exported 103.3 thousand tons of agrifood products to China for $308 million.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was the second biggest Asian destination for Peru's products with 55 thousand tons worth $197 million. South Korea ranked third after importing 31.7 thousand tons for $69.9 million. Japan and Taiwan complete the top 5 Asian destinations, with 25.7 thousand tons worth $47.8 million and 9.7 thousand tons worth $39.4 million, respectively.

Exports to Asia were led by grapes, with 85.5 thousand tons and $254.7 million. Blueberries followed with 29.5 thousand tons and $242.8 million. Avocado ranked third, with 74.3 thousand tons and $128.2 million.
