Avocado, cucumber, and tomato movement from Mexico expected to increase

This report provides trend analysis of the volume and prices of Seasonal Perishable commodities. Volume represents current week, and prices represent open (spot) market sales by first handlers on product of generally good quality and condition unless otherwise stated and may include promotional allowances or other incentives. The charts provide graphic representation of the volume and prices of the major commodities this week based on seasonal volume.

Avocado
Avocado movement from Mexico crossing through Texas is expected to increase slightly. Supplies on larger sizes remain fairly light and shippers are pushing promotions on smaller sized. Trading on 32s-40s moderate with prices generally unchanged while others were fairly slow to moderate at lower prices. Cartons 2 layers Hass 32-36s are mostly 68.25-70.25, 40s mostly 67.25-69.25, 48s are mostly 62.25-64.25, 60s are mostly 40.25-42.25, 70s are mostly 30.25-32.25, and 84s are mostly 22.25-24.25; organic 48s are mostly 73.25-75.25, 60s are mostly 64.25-66.25, and 70s are mostly 50.25- 53.25. Extra services are included. Demand is expected to increase within the next 2 to 3 weeks as the California and Peru seasons wind down. Movement from South District, California is expected to remain decrease. Trading was
moderate. Prices of conventional 32-36s generally unchanged, others lower. Cartons two layers Hass 32-36ss are mostly 68.25-70.25, 40s are 67.25-69.25, 48s are mostly 66.25-68.25, 60s are mostly 46.25-48.25, 70s are mostly 36.25-38.25, and 84s are mostly 26.25-28.25; organic supplies are insufficient to quote. Extra services are included. There remains a
wide range in price.

Cucumber
Cucumber movement from Mexico crossing through Texas is expected to increase. Trading was active at higher prices. Demand has increased from last week. 1 1/9-bushel cartons medium are mostly 24.95-26.95, fair quality are mostly 20.95-22.95, ordinary quality are 14.95-16.95, large are mostly 26.95-27.95. Quality and condition are variable. Movement from Mexico crossings through Otay Mesa, California is expected about the same. Supplies are fairly light with most shipments delivered against prior bookings and/or prior commitments. Trading early was moderate, active later. Prices are much higher. 1 1/9-bushel cartons of medium are mostly 25.00-25.95, large are mostly 22.95-23.95, fair quality are mostly 22.00-22.95, ordinary quality are mostly 14.95. Cartons 36s are mostly 12.95-13.95. Quality and
condition are variable. Movement of cucumbers from Michigan expected to remain the same. Trading is fairly active. Prices of 24s are higher, others generally unchanged. 1 1/9-bushel cartons of medium are mostly 22.85-24.85, fair quality are 14.84. Cartons 24s are 10.85. Movement from Western and Central New York is expected to remain about the same. Trading is active. Prices are generally unchanged. 1 1/9-bushel cartons/crates of medium are 24.00, fair quality are 14.00- 18.00. Movement from Western North Carolina is expected to remain the same although supplies remain in too few hands to establish a market. The last report has been issued.

Green bell pepper
Green bell pepper movement from San Joaquin Valley, California is expected to remain about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices are slightly lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons extra-large are 18.95-20.95, large are 18.95-19.95, irregular sized fair quality are 12.95-14.95. Quality generally good. Movement from Michigan is expected to remain about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices are lower. 1 1/9-bushel cartons jumbo are 16.00, medium fair quality are 12.00-13.00. Quality is generally good. Movement from Western North Carolina is expected to remain about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices are slightly lower. 1 1/9-bushel carton jumbo are 16.00, extra-large are 14.00-16.00, extra large-large fair quality are 12.00-14.00.

Tomato
Tomato movement from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected to increase. Trading is moderate. Prices 4x4-4x5s and 4x4-5x5 sizes lower, others slightly lower. Demand is steady. Vine Ripes cartons 2-layer 4x4-4x5s are mostly 13.95-14.95, 5x5-5x6s are mostly 14.95-15.95; 25-pound cartons loose 4x4-4x5 sizes are mostly 13.95-14.95, and 5x5-5x6 sizes are mostly 14.95-15.95. Quality is generally good. Movement from Central District, California is expected about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices of medium lower, others much lower. 25-pound cartons loose Mature Greens extra large are mostly 14.00-15.00, large are mostly 14.95-16.00, medium mostly 10.00. Quality is generally good. Movement from Alabama is expected to remain about the same. Trading is moderate. Prices are generally unchanged. Extra services are included. 25 pounds carton loose 85 percent U.S. One or Better Mature Greens 5x6 size 17.00-18.00, 6x6 size 16.00-17.00. 25-pound cartons Vine Ripes jumbo 16.00-18.00 and extra-large 16.00-17.00. Quality is generally good. Movement from Mexico crossings through Otay Mesa, California is expected about the same. Supplies are fairly light.
Trading is moderate. Prices 5x6s slightly lower, others much lower. Cartons 2-layer Vine Ripes 4x4-4x5s are mostly 16.00-17.00, 5x5s-5x6s mostly 14.00-15.00. Quality is generally good. Movement from Eastern Tennessee Virginia Eastern shore is expected to increase. Trading moderate with extra services included. 25 lb cartons loose 85 percent U.S. One or
Better Mature Greens 5x6 –6x6 sizes 19.00-20.00. 6x7 size 15.00-16.00. Quality is generally good. Movement from Western North Carolina is expected to remain the same. Trading moderate at slightly lower prices. Vine Ripe 25lb carton extra-large are 16.00-18.95, large are 14.00-18.95.

Blueberry
Blueberry movement from Washington and Oregon is expected to continue to decrease seasonally as the season should come to an end withing the next week. Trading is moderate at higher prices. Flats 12 6-oz cups with lids medium-large are mostly 16.00-18.00, flats 12 1-pint cups with lids medium-large are mostly 24.00-26.00; organic flats 6-oz cups with lids medium-large are mostly 22.00-24.00, 12 1-pint cups are mostly 34.00- 36.00. Quality is variable. Movement from Michigan is expected to continue to decrease as the season comes to an end. Current offerings are in too few hands to establish a market. Movement from British Columbia Canada crossings through Northwest Washington is expected to decrease with the season coming to an end this week. The shortage of berries meeting Canada One quality continues, and offerings are light on the the fresh market. Trading is moderate with prices higher on light supplies. Canada One flats 12 6-oz cups with lids medium-large are mostly 16.00-18.00, flats 12 1-pint cups with lids medium-large are mostly 24.00-26.00. Movement on Peru blueberries is expected to increase as more fruit arrives in the country, and reporting should begin soon.
