Custard apple trading thrives in Myanmar

From Bago Region's Pyay, custard apples, a seasonal fruit, are in high demand, with substantial orders flowing in from Yangon and Mawlamyine. The trading activity for these fruits kicks off with the onset of their season, continuing robustly. Harvested over a span of three months from September to November, with peak production in October, custard apples are a popular choice in Myanmar.

According to Ma Mo Mo Zaw, a Pyay-based custard apple trader, "Custard apple is freshly harvested now and fruit production is the largest in October. We transport to other cities and towns and majority of orders are placed from Yangon and Mawlamyine. The trading is fine. Normally, custard apple price is steady every year." This year has seen an uptick in orders, indicating a vibrant trading season. Moreover, the fruit is noted for its health benefits, including eye and cardiac health, and is particularly recommended for pregnant women. Despite the increase in orders, annual production has remained consistent, ensuring steady supply.
