China expands influence in Kazakhstan's fruit market

In the first half of this year, Kazakhstan imported over 400,000 tons of fruit and berries, a 33.8% increase from last year, with a total value of $234.1 million. Apple imports rose significantly to 94,000 tons, with Poland remaining the top source. Pear imports doubled to 23,500 tons, primarily from Poland, China, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Citrus imports grew 2.4 times, totalling 35,700 tons, with China leading the way. Mandarin imports also saw a notable rise of 45%, sourced from China, Pakistan, Turkey, and South Africa. Additionally, imports of pomegranates and persimmons quadrupled to 19,000 tons, with Russia and China as major suppliers.

Kazakhstan's mango imports surged 4.6 times, primarily from China, while banana imports increased by 14.3%. However, watermelon imports dropped by 10.9%, mainly from Uzbekistan. Berry imports, including strawberries and cherries, decreased by 1.5 times to 7,800 tons.
