Dormir withholding period reduced from 30 to 3 days

DormFresh has announced that the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) has approved a reduction in the withholding period (WHP) for DormirĀ® from 30 days to three days, following the submission of new data. This adjustment is effective immediately.

"This decision has been welcomed by stakeholders in the French potato sector, as it provides more flexibility in sales," stated Alice Lorriaux and Jean Paresys, representatives of DormFresh for the French market. The regulatory update is seen as an improvement for the industry, allowing farmers and distributors to more quickly adapt to market demands while adhering to safety regulations.

Dormir is an anti-sprouting product designed to extend the dormancy period of potatoes, aiming to control early sprouting. It works by reducing tuber respiration, thereby keeping potatoes in a dormant state, which helps in minimizing weight loss and preserving quality. This product is adaptable for various strategies and applicable in both fresh produce and industrial storage environments.
