Willem Dijk AGF kicks off with first tangerines from Filosofo

"Germans always wait with the early varieties, they still go for overseas fruit"

At Willem Dijk AGF in Enschede, the first Filosofo Mandarins have arrived. "Demand is already good. Because there was still a lot of overseas trade on the market, we started a week later. The prices all seem to be a bit lower than at the start of last season," says Ronnie Moorman.

Looking back at the tangerine market last summer, Ronnie says he only had a decent season for the Tanggold and Nadorcott varieties. "For early varieties, there is still very little interest in 'our' market. Germans always wait with the early varieties, they still go for overseas fruit."

Willem Dijk AGF has been working with the Aranda, based in the municipality of Valencia, between Gandia and Oliva, for many years and has made a name for itself in the Dutch and German markets with the Filosofo brand. "Within a few weeks, we will be able to carry a complete oselection of Filosofo citrus, including Okitsu and Navelina followed by Clementine and Salustiana," concludes Ronnie.
