Banned pesticide detected in Turkish tomatoes in Croatia

In Croatia, an analysis conducted by sanitary inspectors at the border revealed the presence of the banned pesticide indoxacarb in Turkish tomatoes, with a concentration of 0.032 milligrams per kilogram. This marks the second instance within a week where Turkish tomatoes have been found to contain traces of a banned substance, according to a report by Danica, referencing data from the EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed.

The consignment was identified through the EU's rapid alert system as a potential health risk, leading to its destruction before it could enter the Croatian market. Additionally, this week, another consignment of tomatoes from Turkey was found to contain the banned pesticide chlorpyrifos at the Croatian border and was similarly destroyed.
